The "Grain de Méjean" interpretation trail in Lattes, near Montpellier, welcomes over 100,000 visitors a year. Two applications accompany disabled visitors.
A site accessible to all

The aim of this application was to enable the general public to walk the 2.5 kilometers of trails on the protected natural site of Méjean in Lattes, in complete autonomy.
Two apps instead of one

The two applications were developed in close collaboration with regional disability associations. To respond perfectly to the constraints of different audiences.
The Le Grain de Méjean application invites sensory discovery in its two versions, one dedicated to the deaf and hard-of-hearing, the other to the blind and partially-sighted. The French Sign Language application features 17 videos. The second guides the blind and partially sighted via geolocation. Audio descriptions with adapted content enable them to understand their surroundings. For example, an alert warns users when they are straying from the path.
The descriptions have been completely rewritten to accommodate different disabilities. A rare feature is that the visually impaired can complete the tour on their own!
Tourism and disabilities award

The Grain de Méjean project was awarded the Tourisme et Handicaps prize, underlining the local authority's efforts to open up the trail to all types of disability. The overall project was designed by Polymorphe Design, an agency specializing in site adaptation, and OHRIZON.
