Le Gobelin amazes Mortain with a new tourist application

L'Mont-Saint-Michel - Normandy tourist office is offering a unique new application calledLe Gobelin de Mortain". This application, available free of charge on the Applestore and Google Playplatforms, uses augmented reality to offer tourists an immersive, magical experience during their visit to the Pays de la Baie du Mont Saint-Michel.

A tourist application for a fun adventure

Ribwold, the goblin, has lost his marvellous objects over the centuries. To get there, he'll have to climb rock-cut paths, decipher mysterious riddles, find his way around the landscape and let history be his guide...

The tourist trail takes you from Mortain's historic town center to a breathtaking panorama overlooking Mont-Saint-Michel. The tourist application is both an educational tool, providing a better understanding of the local heritage and history of this Normandy village, and a hiking aid featuring historical reconstructions and augmented reality.

This role-playing game is part tourism, part fun, part culture, and part challenge. Players/visitors help Ribwold, the goblin of Mortain, in his quest to return to his world of legends. During their journey, they will discover historical and reconstructed panoramas of the village and its castle in augmented reality, as well as a series of 3D and augmented reality experiences that enhance tales, legends and historical accounts such as the Normandy Landings.

Thanks to an interactive map, users can explore the natural and historical treasures of Mortain-Bocage at their own pace. In this way, the village is used as a life-size game board, where the visitor is the hero.

According to Maud Carnetthe tourist office guide, it takes between 2 hours 30 and 3 hours to complete the entire tour. An ideal activity for a family day out.

APPYVISITE brings the tourism app up to date

In 2022, it was decided to update the design of the tourism app created in 2016 thanks to the AppyVisite platform from OHRIZON. What's more, AppyVisite makes it possible to update the content of this immersive, fun app. With AppyVisite, it was easy to transfer content from the previous tourism application, create new Points of Interest and new routes, and add new languages.

Mortain also relied on OHRIZON's creative studio to adapt the design, reorganize content and update games and experiences.

So, since spring 2022, theMortain tourist office has a new tourist application that's fun, immersive and scalable, without having to do the same work twice.

AppyVisite, by OHRIZON, helps visitors understand local heritage and history. AppyVisite is a scalable tool that lets tourist offices create new tours using augmented reality. So, with AppyVisite, the visit becomes more lively, immersive and fun.
